Yes the time has arrived. Well nearly, 2 days to go and we are off . The bags are packed , except for last minute things that aways crop up. I get excited and jumpy as well. Not to worry all will be ok. Fingers crossed as I say that. I will add to my blog while overseas if I find the time.
Well, it’s nearly time to start pulling out the suitcases and deciding what to take with us for our trip overseas. Fourteen days to go. Graeme has marked the calender with the days going backwards as he does when we go away. This is a holiday that will be filled with great excitement for our family as our new granddaughter will be born while we are over in USA. That is , unless she has other ideas and arrives before we get there. All will be revealed when the time comes. The countdowns are well and truely underway in this household. It’s great fun.
The funeral of Graeme’s mum Beryl Jean Allan was held on 1st August in The Blair Chapel at Springvale Botanical Cremetery. The rain came done very heavily just before the service, and cleared slightly just afterwards. It was attended mainly by family members as Beryl had outlived most of her friends and the ones still with us had drifted away over the years. Any the people that counted most were there and those unable to come sent their own tributes. It may sound a funny thing to say but the service was wonderful and enlightening .I never thought about funerals being a lovely thing before but this was. Sure we shed a few tears as expected but we also had lots of smiles and laughs as well. Music by Nat King Cole was played, this being Beryl’s favorite singer. We all went back to Lorraine’s house for drinks and to remember old times. I believe as long as the departed are in our thoughts they will always be with us. May sound corny to some but it’s what’s in your heart that counts. So it was a loving and fond farewell to Beryl aka Beach Nan. Rest in peace and in our hearts.
